Small Business SEO Tools: Dominate Google With These SEO Softwares in 2025

By Rabin Rasaili

Best SEO Tools For Small Businesses

Let’s be honest: SEO is hard. Without the right SEO tools, it can be even more overwhelming and time-consuming.

A good SEO tool can streamline your work, saving time and energy. Further, it can enhance your optimization efforts, providing valuable insights and automation.

The benefits? – Increased organic traffic, better brand recognition, and, ultimately, more sales.

In this blog post, I’ll explore some of the best SEO tools for small businesses and explain how these softwares can help you outrank your competitors and maximize your business’s online visibility and sales.

So let’s get started with our first seo tool, and that is:

1. Google SEO Tools

  • Free for Lifetime

Yes, Google provides SEO Tools. In fact, it offers multiple free seo tools that provide valuable insights into your website’s overall performance. These tools are one of the most crucial and probably the first thing you want to implement on your website.

Start with Google Search Console(GSC) and Google Analytics(GA). These are the two must-have Google seo tools for any website owner. GSC provides extensive reports on how our website is performing on search engines. On the other hand, GA reports on traffic metrics–how a user is interacting with our websites. With a clear idea of your site’s seo position and your audience behaviour, you can easily adjust your strategy and achieve better rankings.

Similar to GSC, Bing also has its own webmaster tool called “Bing Webmaster Tool.” While GSC provides data for Google, BWT provides data for Bing. I recommend you set up both tools, as both are free and provide extensive SEO reports for two popular Search Engines.

Next Google tool on our list is Google Business Profile(GMB), which is critical for any local business owners. If your business doesn’t operate locally, then this tool may not be helpful for you.

GMB helps your business appear in local searches. For eg, if someone in New York searches for “best salon in NY”, then, boom, your salon business will appear in top results. Well, of course, it won’t appear like that, and you need to optimize it, but having GMB can maximize your chances of ranking for those local queries.

2. SEMrush

  • Best all-in-one SEO tool
semrush data for low kd keyword for coffee

Semrush is undoubtedly one of the best SEO solutions on the market. It is an all–in–one SEO platform with 55+ tools for various SEO needs. I have been using SEMrush for a long time(nearly two years), and I must say I am a fan of this tool. In fact, it has become my go-to tool for almost everything.

Key Features:

  • Competitive Research: Just insert one of your competitors’ URLs and get all of their website data–traffic, backlinks, number of keywords they are ranking for, and many more in one place.
  • Keyword Research: It’s very easy to find low-KD keywords with high potential. In its “Keyword Magic Tool”, enter your seed keyword, set the KD filter to “very easy,” and see the magic.
  • Topic Research: Topic research is a handy tool for finding new topics and related keywords. Enter your seed keyword in the “Topic Research” section, and you will get hundreds of topic ideas to include in your keyword list.
  • Link building: Explore your backlink profile, evaluate the quality of your backlinks, and discover opportunities for building high-quality backlinks.
  • Local SEO: Easily manage your business listings, track your map ranking, and manage and maintain your reputation across online platforms.
  • Site audit: analyzes and identifies your website’s technical issues and provides recommendations on how to fix them.
  • Various social media marketing tools to manage and enhance your social presence.

Pricing:

Semrush is a comprehensive SEO solution(55+ tools), and that is why it can be a little expensive for businesses with tight budgets. The starting price of Semrush is $139.95/month and goes up to $499.95/month for its highest plan.

For those who want to try the tool before taking any decision(which you should do too), they also provide a 7-day free trial. During this period, you’ll have full access to Semrush Pro features to try it out yourself and decide if it’s worth it for you.

Semrush offers a free account(with limited features), too. You will get ten free daily searches with a free Semrush account.

My Experience:

Overall, I have had a great experience with Semrush, and it has been very helpful in my seo workflow. I mostly use it for finding awesome low KD keywords and analyzing my competitors’ strengths and weaknesses. Lately, they also have some cool AI features, which I find very useful. The only downside of this tool is that it can be expensive for low-budget businesses, but the value it provides can easily justify the cost if you’re serious about growing your online presence.

3. Surferseo

  • Best Content Optimization Tool

SurferSEO really shines when it comes to content optimization. It basically analyzes the top-ranking pages on Google for a specific keyword using an advanced AI algorithm and provides recommendations on improving our content for better rankings.

Surferseo dashboard

What I really like about Surfer SEO is that it gives suggestions on all NLP-friendly terms and LSI keywords that my article should include. Plus, it also shows how many times a term should be used in content so that the content is optimized without appearing overly stuffed or unnatural to readers.

SurferSEO also has an AI content creation feature, which lets you create a fully optimized blog post with a click. In fact, I was very impressed by the quality of the article it generated for me. The quality and details of the article were on point considering it’s an AI-assisted writing and I had to put almost no effort before publishing on the web.

Other things SurferSEO can help you with:

  • Keyword research and clustering–provides keyword ideas and their clusters along with search volume and difficulty.
  • Automatically optimize your content with a click and suggest internal links to improve site structure and ranking.
  • Check for plagiarism, detect AI content, and humanize it with ease using AI.
  • Easy integration with other SEO tools like Jasper AI, SEMrush, Google Docs, and WordPress for better output.

Pricing:

SurferSEO has three pricing plans. Its base plan starts with $99 per month, which is ideal for small businesses or solopreneurs. For businesses who are serious about content production and want to level up, I suggest you go with its “Scale” plan that costs $219/month. For marketing agencies and bigger businesses with large content needs, the “Custom” plan is made for you.

Unfortunately, they don’t provide a free trial. Instead, they have a 7-day money-back guarantee policy, which just acts as a free trial. If you are unsatisfied with the tool( which I doubt), then you can cancel your subscription within 7 days of the purchase and get your money back.

My Experience:

For me, SurferSEO is the king when it comes to analyzing and optimizing content. And I have tried many of them(Neuronwriter, Frase, and more). It has provided me with some fantastic suggestions on improving my content, along with the NLP terms. Plus, its AI writing assistance is also very powerful(written some really great blog posts with it). For those who want to create high-quality AI content with minimal effort or want to scale up their content optimization game, SurferSEO is a must-try tool.

4. Jasper AI

  • Best AI Copywriting Tool
jasper ai homepage

Jasper AI is a very popular name in the digital marketing industry, and for good reason. It is an AI-powered writing assistant that helps marketers write high-quality, engaging content quickly and efficiently.

Powered by OpenAI’s GPT, Jasper AI automatically generates content for various formats such as blog posts, articles, social media posts, email newsletters, and ad copy. It has over 50+ pre-built templates and workflows, which are very helpful in the content generation process. I have been using Jasper for almost a year, and I must say I am quite impressed by the capabilities of this tool.

What sets Jasper apart from other writing tools is its ability to adapt its writing style to match different tones and voices. You can instruct Jasper to write in your brand voice, and it will follow it pretty accurately, maintaining consistency across all your content.

Other notable features:

  • AI chatbot–An Interactive chatbot to brainstorm ideas, ask questions, and receive real-time assistance throughout the content creation process.
  • AI art–create high-quality AI images with text prompts
  • Easy integration with tools like SurferSEO for seamless content optimization
  • Includes a built-in plagiarism detection feature.
  • Support content creation in more than 30 languages

Pricing:

With such powerful and comprehensive features for writing, it’s quite an affordable tool in the market. Its base plan starts at $49 per month, and its pro plan starts at $69 per month. If you want more features and personalized settings with API access, then there’s a custom plan too.

It also offers a 7-day free trial during which you will have full access to its premium features to try and see it for yourself.

My Experience:

Japer is a great tool for writing. There’s no doubt about that. It has some really helpful features to make your writing better. I really liked that you can even set your voice or the voice of a writer you adore, and it will write in that voice(not entirely accurate, but it’s very close). Being a copywriting tool, it doesn’t produce articles from seo perspective. But don’t worry! You can easily integrate Jasper with SurferSEO and make your content ready to rank in the SERPs.

I also find that it’s one-click blogs are not that comprehensive and detailed. To be able to produce a great blog post, you have to go back and forth and write it section by section, guiding it with prompts. So, make sure you learn to prompt it first and guide it to your will before creating your first post.

5. Exploding Topics

  • Best For Identifying Trending Topics
exploding topics dash board

As its name suggests, Exploding Topics is a tool to discover trending or, say, “exploding topics” across different industries. It analyzes millions of data points across the web to find any emerging topics.

The interesting thing is that it not only analyzes search engine data but also examines various searches, conversations, or mentions across social media platforms, forum sites, and podcasts.

explodingtopics data sources

It provides users with a curated list of trending topics with growth metrics, search volume data, and related keywords. You can also search for your own topic and see its growth rate. If you don’t find your topic, you can always add it, and they will fetch the data for it, too.

Paid users can see trends from 15 years to below 3 months(latest), which is very useful for spotting current trends. While free members get access to 2 years and beyond, trends. It can be a little late to act on a trend, but again, it’s free access. So, I am not complaining!

Other features:

  • Track trend–Track your preferred trend and set customizable alerts for that trend.
  • Spot any trending products and startups across different industries with enriched data to act on.
  • Trend clustering–Groups related trends together, allowing its users to see the bigger picture and understand how different trends are interconnected.
  • Trend forecasting–Early prediction growth of a topic over the next 12 months. So small businesses can act on it accordingly.

Pricing:

Exploding topics has three pricing plans. Its base plan starts from $39 per month and goes up to $249 per month for its highest plan. Good thing, it also has a 7-day free trial where you use the tools to it’s fullest.

My experience:

I was already a fan of Brian Dean, and when I heard he acquired this tool, I suddenly moved to the tool and tried it. And boy, it didn’t disappoint me even a little bit. This tool really lives up to the name when spotting emerging trends early. You can even find trending product ideas early here, which is a great opportunity for those who are involved in the e-commerce business. Lastly, I also find it really interesting that they have also got a trending startups feature, which displays small companies that are starting to get traction. This is an excellent opportunity for investors to catch those businesses at an early stage.

Free users get 100 AI prompts, while premium users get up to 2000 AI prompts.

Pricing:

Grammarly has a generous free(of course, with limited features) plan that lets its users enjoy the tool’s features. This can be enough if you want to check spellings only. 8. Screaming Frog

  • Best For Identifying Technical Issues

Screaming frog dashboard

It identifies issues such as broken links, duplicate content, missing meta descriptions, incorrect redirects, oversized page elements, shallow site architecture, and much more. The pricing plan of Screaming Frog is simple. You get a free version that can crawl up to 500 URLs. This can be enough for beginners or small business websites with fewer pages. But if your site has thousands of URLs to crawl, then you might want to go with its paid plan, which costs $259 per year.

My Experience:

Honestly, Screamingfrog is not an easy-to-use to use tool. You will definitely going to need some technical expertise to use it to its fullest. But once you figure it out, it is the most powerful tool that uncovers hidden SEO issues on your website, giving you deep insights that most other tools simply miss. And don’t worry about getting stuck or feeling overwhelmed. You will find tons of videos on YouTube that will help you easily navigate through this tool.
